Apgar Lookout

Apgar Lookout – 7.1mi / 11.4km

Apgar Lookout

Apgar Lookout provides you with a great view of Lake McDonald looking towards the head of the lake. The hike starts out in the trees, but quickly moves into the burned areas as you start to gain elevation along the sunny, exposed, south facing slope of the hillside. The slope is a steady grade all the way to the summit.

This trail is one of the few available with any measure of elevation that is accessible in the early spring months.

Trailhead: Go half a mile past the West Entrance and turn left on the road for Apgar Lookout. Continue over the bridge and up the dirt road to the trailhead sign.

Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,900ft / 570m
