Lincoln Lake

Lincoln Lake – 16.7mi / 26.9km

Lincoln Lake

With its big welcoming sign right off Going-to-the-Sun Road, you may be tempted to hop out of your car and hike to Lincoln Lake. Before you do, though, you will need to know what you are getting into. This trail is big on elevation gain and low on views, as it spends most of its time in the trees.

The trail goes up and over Snyder Ridge to Lincoln Creek, where it meanders all the way to Lincoln Lake. The lake itself is beautiful: a wall of towering cliffs with the gorgeous Beaver Chief Falls at the opposite end. Unless you plan to spend the night, your trip is only half over, as you will need to hike back up and over Snyder Ridge to return to your vehicle.

Trailhead: Just off Going-to-the-Sun Road is a well marked trailhead for Lincoln Lake, located immediately before Sprague Creek Campground.

Elevation Gain/Loss: 2,600ft / 780m
