Hurricane Ridge to Klahhane Ridge

Hurricane Ridge to Klahhane Ridge – 7.6mi / 12.2km

The ridge walk from the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center to Klahhane Ridge provides non-stop breathtaking views from the moment you step on the trail. Starting at the east end of the scenic meadows, stay right at the first junction to climb up the High Ridge Trail for a sprawling vantage of the surrounding mountains.

The views continue as you work your way down to the junction with the spur trail for Sunrise Point. Hike to the point before returning and continuing northeast along the ridge. The sublime walk passes through a few stands of trees as it goes up and down along the ridge. It spends most of its time giving you wonderful views on both sides of Hurricane Ridge. As you approach Mt. Angeles, a climbers trail breaks off to the left (a great turnaround for those looking for a less strenuous day).

Stay right to skirt below the gnarled mountain to enjoy its red, basalt formations that form the distressed landscape of the mountain and Klahhane Ridge. You’ll meet up with the Switchback Trail and ascend the open hillside with scattered trees to Klahhane Ridge and a whole new vantage looking north.

For those looking to extend their trip, trails continue to Heather Park and along the ridge towards Lake Angeles.

Trailhead: Follow the Hurricane Ridge Road to the visitor center. Begin at the paved trail at the east end of the parking lot.
