Lake Angeles

Lake Angeles – 7.5mi / 12.1km

An island sits in the middle of this picturesque lake backdropped by the stunning cliffs of Klahhane Ridge. The heavily forested trail begins climbing amongst moss and ferns, turning up into the Ennis Creek drainage. The creek eventually becomes visible below before you cross it.

The undergrowth gradually disappears into the spooky forest, seemingly devoid of life except high up in the canopy, as you switchback and climb towards the lake. As you approach your destination, vegetation begins to appear, then a meadow, and finally the lake.

The lake is a popular place to cool off in the hot summer months. The rocky, forested island is a great feature in this scenic lake.

For those looking for a longer, more strenuous day, continue past the lake, steeply climbing up to Klahhane Ridge. From the ridge, head over to Heather Park via a tricky, primitive trail, then drop down to the trailhead (see Heather Park for description) for a scenic 11.2mi/18km loop.

Trailhead: Follow the Hurricane Ridge Road up to the entrance station. Take a right on the road just north of the entrance station and follow it to the parking area and trailheads at the end. The Lake Angeles trailhead is along the southern edge.
