Little River Trail

Little River Trail – 7.9mi / 12.7km

Follow the chattering South Branch Little River up through a forest full of ferns and massive trees. A short drop down takes you to a bridged crossing of the Little River followed by a short, steep climb up on the other side. The trail follows old roads through the forest of state land (a Discovery Pass is required).

The trail leaves state land and enters into the national park. Here you are greeted by massive trees and the South Branch Little River. The lightly visited trail follows the small river up through ferns, moss, and a canyon with high walls. The trail crosses over the river several times, with the fourth being a great spot to turn around for those looking for a shorter hike.

Continue on the trail where it climbs another 500ft/150m to a crossing of the picturesque creek before turning around.

Trailhead: Just west of Port Angeles, head north on S Pine St from Hwy 101. Take a left onto Black Diamond Road for 5 miles. Take a left onto Little River Road. The trailhead is immediately to your right.

Elevation Gain: 1,400ft / 420m – Elevation Loss: 1,400ft / 420m
