Duck Lake

Duck Lake – 0.5mi / 0.8km

A nice broad shoreline makes for a great spot to enjoy the waterfowl on Duck Lake. The short trail crosses Grand Loop Road, then climbs 100 ft up, then down a ridge separating Duck Lake from the West Thumb Geyser Basin. Most of this hike is in a younger stand of lodgepole pines with a short, open section below power lines. The trail ends at the lake, and opens up to a nice view from an explorable shoreline.

Trailhead: The signed trailhead for Duck Lake is at the northwest end of the parking lot for West Thumb Geyser Basin.

Elevation Gain: 100ft / 30m – Elevation Loss: 100ft / 30m
