Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake – 2mi / 3.2km

Catch the magnificent reflection of Half Dome in the aptly named Mirror Lake. The trail to the lake is on a paved road that is closed to vehicular traffic, but open for bikes.

You first encounter Tenaya Creek as you cross over it via a beautiful stone bridge. Continue alongside the creek where it crashes over and around large boulders as it parallels the road. The trail levels out and the creek slows, forming small pools. At the first pool, a restroom and a bike rack await as bikes are not allowed beyond this point.

The trail wraps around the west side of a couple pools, connected by cascades. Interpretive displays discuss the cultural and natural history of the area. At Mirror Lake, you’ll have fantastic views of Half Dome and other prominent domes further up Tenaya Canyon. In drier years, Mirror Lake is reduced to a meadow, however, earlier in summer and in wetter years, you’ll be treated to stunning reflections in the water.

Turn around here or continue on to complete the Mirror Lake Loop (see Mirror Lake Loop) or up the Snow Creek Trail (see Snow Creek Trail).

Trailhead: As there is no parking at the trailhead, take the free bus shuttle to the Mirror Lake stop #17, or the 1.7mi/2.7km walk from Yosemite Village.

Elevation Gain: 100ft / 30m – Elevation Loss: 100ft / 30m
