Looking for the perfect trip over Going-to-the-Sun Road? Use this driving guide to find all the right stops and the order in which you should stop for the best photos and a parking spot at Logan Pass so that you don’t miss a thing!

If you only have one day in Glacier National Park, a drive over the famous, historic Going-to-the-Sun Road is a must. Completed in 1932, this road goes through the heart of the Park.

The drive up Going-to-the-Sun Road delights every sense. The west side meanders through dense undergrowth and wanders along McDonald Creek. It then climbs to the views of the amazing glacier carved, U-shaped valleys and towering peaks along the cliff-hugging upper stretches of road. You enter the breathtaking alpine and cross the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. From there, the road descends into vast valleys, past more creeks and waterfalls. You travel the shores of St. Mary Lake and into the open meadows, finally reaching the St. Mary Visitor Center. Along the way, it keeps changing and rewarding visitors.
