Murie Ranch

The Murie family has a storied legacy in conservation from wildlife studies to conserving public land. Many of these efforts occurred in the cabins at the ranch in Grand Teton National Park, just a short walk from the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center.
After touring the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center, we found interpretive sign for the Murie Ranch Trail and set off. This short, level trail travels through a nice mix of forest and sagebrush meadows. It parallels a quiet gravel road on one side with the Snake River on the other.
After a short half-mile hike, we arrived at the collection of cabins. The various historic cabins are interesting with some period pieces on the porches. Interpretive displays help with some of the impressive accomplishments and interesting history.
Most of the cabins are used for science and education and are inaccessible.
