It feels like I keep saying this, but we've been whining for spring around here. Apparently the calendar says that it "officially" starts on Monday. The abundance of snow says otherwise, but there are signs...
When we have a bit of nice weather in January or February, I have to check my heart at the door to not get excited for flowers, sparkling lakes, and dry trails. The cold will come back, dashing my hopes with single digits. When it gets up in the 40s in mid-March, however, I let my heart go all aflutter.
Kristen and I had an appointment up in Glacier, so we figured we'd squeeze in a little outing. We threw the cross-country skis in the car, put hot soup in a thermos, and headed up last weekend. The sky was a deep blue, the snow was a blinding white, and the wind had some nip to it... but you could feel the turning.
Ice was starting to break up, buds were swelling, and the birds' songs were changing. You can see the short blog here. Hope you're getting ready cuz we sure are!
the trail awaits...
