I wanted to let you know that I made an update to the "Day 3 Lesson" in the HIKE-ABILITY coursework. The Mobility Training “overview” text was missing from the lesson. There’s some really good nuggets of information in there so please do give it a read (I’ve attached the text below).
Day 3: Mobility Training Overview (UPDATE) MOBILITY TRAINING
Mobility training is essentially “joint training” to keep your joints healthy and moving in the way they were intended. The goal is to develop optimal, pain-free range of motion (ROM). Sitting for extended periods of time (desk work, commuting, cough-potato TV watching), poor posture, prior injuries, and basically anytime when we stop moving our bodies in ways that maintain proper ROM causes our joint health (and overall health) to suffer. Healthy joints require consistent movement. Movement brings blood flow and nutrients, and helps maintain the integrity of the cartilage. When joints are able to move freely, and through their optimal ROM there is less “wear & tear” action. Mobility exercises help fix restricted movement patterns and retrain your central nervous system to allow for greater range of motion. Being mobile allows for proper, efficient, and pain-free movements on and off the trail, and reduces the risk of injury.
