"The drive on Going-to-the-Sun Road never ever gets old" Kristen said to me as we drove up to Logan Pass this morning. I wholeheartedly agreed.
We heard the road was fully open and took the opportunity to drive the road today (Tuesday 6/13). It was, as it always is, so amazing. We rolled down the windows and took in the alpine air and loved every waterfall and blooming flower (which were everywhere).
No big Logan Pass Opening blog from us this year, but a quick news release here that it's now open to vehicular traffic. Couple items of note as well:
1. There isn't a lot of snow for this time of year. Good news for those of you coming earlier this season is that trails should be opening up nice and early. Not great news for stream flows, glacier size (as in actual glaciers), and fire danger.
2. The construction on the west side of the park is still a hot mess. You can get through, but it's a long 9 miles of pot holes with a couple stretches of single lane traffic. So load up on some patience as you come through the entrance gate in West Glacier.
Hope you all get to smell some of that good alpine air and see a mountain goat or two at the pass!
the trail road awaits...
