Kootenai Lakes is perfect moose habitat and you have a very good chance at seeing one there. This forested hike is level and relatively uneventful for 2.8 miles until you arrive at Kootenai Lakes. Eat lunch, look for moose beneath the remarkable Citadel Peaks, and head on back to catch the boat ride back to Canada. This trail crosses the border at Goat Haunt.**

** Goat Haunt day hikes can be reached via the boat tour out of Waterton for a fee. Check the schedule to ensure a return trip can be made in a timely manner. All hikes in this area cross the border at the Goat Haunt Point of Entry. The U.S. Goat Haunt Port of Entry hours are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. All travelers crossing the border at Goat Haunt must present documents that are Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant. U.S. and Canadian Citizens must present a Passport, U.S. Passport Card, Enhanced Drivers License or NEXUS Card. U.S. Resident aliens must present a U.S. Resident Alien Card. Citizens from countries other than Canada or the U.S. must present a valid passport and a current I-94 or an I-94W available at the U.S. Class A Port of Entry. Crossing the Canadian border at Waterton with a firearm is prohibited.
