Lover’s Lane Loop – 6mi / 9.7km
Explore the Sol Duc River area’s cathedral forest with Sol Duc Falls highlighting the trip at the top of the loop. Start by crossing the Sol Duc River from the Hot Springs Resort, then taking an immediate right.
A stand of red alder take you to the river’s edge before continuing on through the campground. You’ll leave the campers behind where the trail winds its way through massive trees and huckleberry bushes. The trail is sandwiched between the road and the river and you’ll hear a little of both as you work your way to the Sol Duc Falls Trail.
Take a right onto this much wider, and busier trail, to work your way down to these falls where the Sol Duc River breaks into three large strands as it plummets into a deep gorge.
Continue on the other side of the river. Stay right at the trail junction and immediately come to Canyon Creek with multiple lovely cascades. The trail continues on through the forest with multiple vantages of the river. You’ll travel through a broad, flat area full of ferns before climbing up behind the resort and through a mossy forest before coming back to the cabins near the resort and closing the loop.
Trailhead: Just east of Lake Crescent, turn onto the Sol Duc Hot Springs Road from Hwy 101. Turn into the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort. The trail begins at the northwest corner near the cabins.
