Crane Flat Lookout

Crane Flat Lookout – 0.3mi / 0.5km

This short trail takes you to a fire lookout on the western edge of the park, and gives you sweeping views of Yosemite. The trail starts near the helipad and training area used for search and rescue operations. It goes through an old burned forest with views primarily to the west and north as it wraps up to the lookout.

You can climb up into the lookout where they have historical information. The walkway outside gives you views looking east to the distant peaks in Yosemite.

Trailhead: The turnoff for the paved road to the lookout is approximately 0.8mi/1.3km west of the Crane Flat junction on the Big Oak Flat Road. (The steep, narrow road is not recommended for RVs.)

Elevation Gain: 50ft / 15m – Elevation Loss: 50ft / 15m
