Autumn Creek
Autumn Creek – 5.7mi / 9.2km
While primarily a ski trail in the winter, the Autumn Creek trail functions just as well as a hiking trail in the summer. Beginning with a brief walk in trees and peekaboo views into Three Bears Lake and the surrounding mountains to the Autumn Creek Trail.
After a lot of treed walking, the trail begins to open up at the base of Elk Mountain, revealing a picturesque field against the mountain backdrop. As you make your way down to the road, the forest begins to morph into more mature stands of trees. If you do not have a way to shuttle vehicles, you may need to make this trip an out and back from Marias Pass before losing all of your elevation.
Trailhead: Park at Marias Pass, cross the railroad tracks, and walk eastward along the edge of the trees until you encounter the trail.
Elevation Gain: 300ft / 90m – Elevation Loss: 1,000ft / 300m
