Aurora Ridge and Eagle Lakes

Aurora Ridge and Eagle Lakes – 12.5mi / 20km

The first of the Eagle Lakes is tucked high up on Aurora Ridge and requires considerable effort on a lonely, wooded trail. The first 1mi/1.6km of this infrequently used trail travels through an overgrown, deciduous forest before it reaches a few switchbacks.

It transitions to towering evergreens with scant views as it steadily climbs up the ridge. After gaining a substantial 2,300ft/690m of elevation (with some extra up and down along the ridge), the trail steeply drops 300ft/90m down to the small, tree-lined lake teeming with trout.

Trailhead: Just west of Lake Crescent, turn onto the Sol Duc Hot Springs Road from Hwy 101. The Aurora Ridge trailhead is 2.5 miles on the left.

Elevation Gain: 3,400ft / 1,020m – Elevation Loss: 3,400ft / 1,020m
