Coyote Valley Trail

Coyote Valley Trail – 1.2mi / 2km

Explore the wide open Kawuneeche Valley, a popular place for elk, moose, and deer along the Colorado River.

From the dense forest, the trail emerges along the Colorado River. Take the bridge across to a treed picnic area. Here, the meadow opens up wide and is backdropped by wooded hillsides and the dramatic Never Summer Mountains. The level, accessible trail winds its way up along the river passing through meadows and stands of trees. Interpretive signs explain the natural and cultural histories of the area.

Trailhead: Turn into the signed Coyote Valley Trail parking area 5.5mi/8.9km north of the Grand Lake Entrance off the Trail Ridge Road.
