Logan Pass Opening 2013
—
by
It’s finally here! As of June 21st, 2013, the National Park Service has opened Going-to-the-Sun Road all the way through from West Glacier to St. Mary. They had opened the road up from the East side to Logan Pass last week, but due to a contract they had with the construction crews and the need to install some railing, they had to wait until today.
There is still a lot of snow and the weather can be ornery, so make sure you have a warm jacket, hat and gloves. There’s not a lot of hiking at Logan Pass as the ground is all covered in snow, but this marks an important milestone. It’s so wonderful with all of the waterfalls along the road and the wildflowers right below the snowline.
Anyway, the weather should start turning to more sunny days and the trails will keep drying out and we can get hiking!
