A really great program in Glacier National Park for wannabe biologists such as myself is the Citizen Science Program which is part of the Crown of the Continent Research Learning Center. This program is partially funded by my sponsor, the Glacier National Park Fund and is a great way for folks to get involved with some real science.
In order to participate, you attend a classroom workshop to learn about the species that you’ll be observing and how to document your observations, then you go out in the field for part two of the training and do some hands on observation. Current projects include Common Loons, Invasive Plant Species and High Country animals such as Mountain Goats and Pikas.
