Graves Creek

Graves Creek – 7.5mi / 12km

This quiet hike delights with a great collection of flora and a creek that gets better the further upstream you go. The trail crosses over Graves Creek and onto the wide trail up towards Enchanted Valley. The humble Graves Creek Trail breaks off to the right and switchbacks up the hillside.

The hike is truly a botanists delight as it travels through a stunning array of ferns, mosses, trees, and shrubs. It wraps around the ridge and into the Graves Creek drainage crossing numerous feeder streams along the way. The further up you go the more you see of the creek, which cascades and falls in the valley below.

The trail eventually crosses the creek at a lovely junction with Graves Creek and Success Creek, which makes for a perfect place to explore before turning around.

For those looking for a longer day, the trail continues 4.1mi/6.5km up to the beautiful Lake Sundown (see Wynoochee Pass and Lake Sundown for description).

Trailhead: From Hwy 101, turn onto South Shore Road just south of Lake Quinault. Follow the road for 13 miles as it becomes Graves Creek Road. Follow that rough, gravel road for another 5.8 miles to the trailhead at the end of the road.

Elevation Gain: 1,300ft / 390m – Elevation Loss: 1,300ft / 390m
