Cameron Lake – Waterton Lakes National Park

Cameron Creek Trail

At the end of the Akamina Parkway in Waterton Lakes National Park, you find the beautiful Cameron Lake. There are a few trails that start from the parking lot. The trail that runs along the lake is a nice level hiking path that is just over a mile long. It hugs the lake nicely and gives you views across the lake almost the entire time. At the end of the trail, you have a little wooden overlook where you can look up into the hillside at the avalanche chutes where grizzlies often feed.

Overall a really nice easy hike for just about anyone in the family.

How long is Cameron Lake? We kayaked here one blissfully calm morning in July 2011. Saw a beautiful eagle hanging out on the boulders at the south end of the lake.

    1. Sally, are you referring to Cameron Lake or the Cameron Lake trail?
